Lads,

I created Shining Force 2 Remake 4 years ago. The engine could be used to make new Shining Force style games. I have thought several times of doing so, but I wonder if there is any interest at all to play such games. Currently I lack motivation.

I would absolutely love to play a new Shining Force game - especially given the way the series has gone lately. We get a lot of searches for Shining Force remakes and demos, so the interest is definitely there Smiley

Incidentally, someone was asking about your source the other week.

I'd definitely be interested! Also, I've been considering for a while to pick up BABS 3, which was practically finished but never released, and give it a bit of a pimp up Wink.

Yesterday I had the idea to develop a game that is a mix of Civilization and Shining Force. You have several towns and must conquer the opponent's towns. Each town builds units. Some towns build only warriors, others build bowmen, knights, magicians, healers and birdmen. With barracks you can increase the level of the new units. The fighting system is the same as in Shining Force. What do you think of this idea?

Awesome! Well, I guess that makes it clear then. It's high time I do pick that up again Smiley. I could just spend a little time packaging and uploading it, but I think it may be more fun to add a few extras before releasing it.

Is anybody interested in contributing some graphics, or does anyone have any requests in terms of gameplay? Smiley

Cheers!

I like the idea - Civ is one of my favourite games, but I never really liked the combat in it so changing that would be awesome. Sounds like it could work quite well on a touch screen too.

Hi there,

I started working on my own Shining style game. You can find a couple of screenshots at my blog: http://adokhugi.livejournal.com/

Working title: "Mega Force"

Looks awesome! I'll make a post on the front page about it this week, so if there's anything you'd like me to mention let me know Smiley

The game is making progress and I have already created the first 5 battles. It is a harder game than Shining Force, which will make experts happy. Developing the game is a lot of fun for me and I am really happy since it has been a dream of mine for a long time to create a new game in the style of Shining Force.

Good news: You can now find a demo version of my game at my homepage: http://www.hugi.scene.org/adok/miscellaneous/megaforce_demo_0_1.zip

The demo reflects the current state of development. You can play the first six battles.

No problem! Those bananas are really tough (or I just really suck Wink)

A hint: Move your party slowly so that you can fight each enemy separately. Use Caryn to heal, use Tassi to fight, let Jacob stay behind. When Tassi reaches level 2 he becomes strong enough to defeat a banana with just one blow. This will make bananas rather easy enemies from the second battle on.
